Nicolas Lewis held a book signing for his first book, "In the Wind," at Mollie's Café and Bar on Wednesday, March 5.
Lewis received admirers in the intimately lit bar area. He had copies for sell and was signing them for free. The patrons were excited as they gathered and saluted Lewis with a champagne toast.
The book is a collection of short stories from her point of view that all present a theme. She talks to the reader, Lewis said, like a "diary of her life." He said he based most of them on stories his mother told him.
Lewis was originally from Portageville Mo. Currently, he is attending graduate school at Southeast. He graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's in English Literature.
He fell into writing through his studies and used research skills he learned in class for this book. College prepared him in every way, Lewis said.
He already has another book of short stories written and plans to have it out in May.
Lewis has more book signings coming up around Cape Girardeau. He will be at Cozmo's on Independence St. on April 1. He is also scheduled to appear at Jimmie's on Williams St. soon, without a definite date at this time.
