I'm not sure where to begin with "Paranormal Activity" because it absolutely blind-sided me. I had seen a trailer or two for it before seeing the movie, but never paid a lot of attention to it because it seemed like it would be one of two things-terrible or amazing. But, I did end up seeing it and I could not be happier that I did.

"Cirque du Freak: The Vampires Assistant" is perhaps the perfect Halloween movie. It has vampires, wolf men, man-eating spiders, a snake boy, and plenty of other ghoulish characters. The Vampire's Assistant is based off of Darren Shan's book series "Cirque du Freak."

"Brutal Legend" is the video-game equivalent of a decently funny Jack Black movie. The good kind, where the humor is reasonably intelligent and occasionally deliciously sarcastic-think "School of Rock," not "Nacho Libre." Unfortunately, to get to the humor, you have to play through the game, which is much less entertaining.

Terry Goodkind's latest novel is much different from his usual work. He has moved from his usual swords and horses type fantasy to "The Law of Nines," which is best described as a paranormal thriller. In this latest novel he has brought to life a wonderful action-packed story.
